Thomas, my advice is to fight the stealth measures of retaliation by outing the culprits.

Write about your retaliation fears to all the board members and ask them for a reply. Name your principal. He or she is carrying out the bidding of ROSSAC and is as scared of being fired as you are.

Write to the press—Letitia Stein and Marilyn Brown—and alert them to the contours of another intimidation-firing scenario under the radar to keep all the teachers in thrall with the fear of losing their jobs.

This is the psychological intimidation that the administration practices and the board allows that replicates the horror that went on in the Erwin crucifixion. They won’t stop until you resist them.

History helps those who help themselves. Don’t sit like a deer in the headlights and bleat about how you can’t believe this inhumane treatment is happening.

It is. Accept that fact and fight back.

Write your principal and tell her that your first interview on you absences because of your illness reassured you that you would get fair treatment. Then ask for a meeting with her with a CTA rep with you to discuss the implications of her second memo and what it says about the schools’ apparent plan to retaliate against you and make an example of you to scare other teachers.

And leaflet the board with emails. Don’t let the members of the board claim they don’t know about what’s going on.

The Professional Standards office is the administration’s Gestapo. You don’t defeat it by cooperating with its sadism. You fight back with exposing it.

And keep a record of your communications and actions. You will need it to recite the history of this retaliation in the future if the administration doesn't back down and stop this nonsense.

Let me know what I can do to help. lee

Lee

I am probably going to need a defense fund myself. While discussing a contract violation in my Principals office in my capacity as CTA building rep, I was shown a document that indicated I had missed 18.5 days due to illness.

My Principal knows full well that I have had serious health problems since the start of the year, including 3 surgical procedures I have had two Shock Wave Lithotripsies for kidney stones in both kidneys and a Cardiac Cath to investigate the cause of chest pains and shortness of breath that had me hospitalized for 3 days in September. Recently I had a screening procedure all requiring anesthesia. When I asked if she wanted documentation she said that it was not necessary, that she knew of my health issues but that she was "required" to point out the numbers of absences and this not a problem.

Fast forward to Friday. I received A memo on my box (visible to all) stating that because of my "excessive" absences and the "concern" she related to me earlier, I am to receive an early evaluation.

Lee this is an attempt at intimidation.

Someone has told her to do this.

At no point in our earlier conversation did she mention a concern. Now she claims she did. Thank God I had a witness at that meeting who will corroborate the facts. Now it has become a concern. Why?

How can an early evaluation remedy her "concern"?

Trying to scare me, perhaps begin the "papering" process all over again.

If we support the notion that crucifixions are associated with Christians, perhaps we can make a case that the district has crossed the line between church and state!

Give "the Gonz" something to keep him busy.

When "Things Don't Make Sense At The Table". it is because the real decision maker isn't sitting at it:

PRO on HCPS: Search results for decision maker:

"I learned a long time ago that when things don't make sense at the table, someone not sitting at the table is the decision maker."

All of us have to challenge:

PRO on HCPS: Search results for decision maker:

"For the one's that end up with problems, [be it] parents [or] teachers, [they] simply have too much trust for the system until they get to the point where they become so angry they lose their ability to advocate. Another dirty secret is, 'the system' understands that and relies upon it. I don't make this stuff up. I have lived it and studied it."

Well Lee, I am going to get no help from the CTA. Please read my post on goaders blog. The head CTA person took my criticism of her lack of action quite peronally. Her parting shot was:

"I think you should reconsider your approach to problem resolution."

How smug was that?

Thanks for the advice Ms. Lyons, I think I will take your advice and begin by keeping you out of the process for now.
