Up and at 'em

If you have some extra time, look up PTAs over Florida for me. Get a list of the counties by keying in “List of Florida counties” in Google. I want to give the board and administration the publicity that they are so terrified of and should be. Happy New Year. lee

The Gates Foundation seems benevolent, but it is really greed driving it. If you can get kids to use Microsoft PCs and software you get them possibly hooked for the rest of their lives on using those products. Gates wants to create a monopoly and squash mac or other computer companies. It pretends to help others while simply trying to use another route to filling its pocket book.

Pepsi does a similar thing. It gives its products away at such low rates to the school district so that kids will grow up with Pepsi (even though it is an inferior product to Coke) and buy Pepsi products later on in life.

Don't trust anyone or anything. Money is the driving force behind EVERYTHING in this world unfortunately. People have found out how to use kids and taxpayer dollars to make a fortune. It is the Republican way. Screw everyone and make a fortune for yourself.

they had the will power. But Hillsborough’s can’t even stop no-bid contracts.

I have worked for women’s rights for 45 years. But I don’t believe that most men are evil. Quite a few are, however, when it comes to women’s rights. And those Arab guys all need a horse whipping for such practices as honor killing. I bought a tee-shirt to send to my old-time women’s rights friends for Christmas to salute our years in the women’s rights work together. It said, “Three wise men.” Second line: “Be serious.” The Publix male manager, a nice old guy, stopped me for a long conversation about the relationship of the sexes. We are making progress in changing minds in that fight.

I don’t think we have yet made a dent in the school board and administration. I send out a magnum opus for the January opening of the schools. So we’ve got that going for us.

Put a comma after “software” in the second line of your piece for introductory adverbial clause. I have a twit accusing me of not correcting the punctuation of my favorites. He’s engaged in blog stalking. I think he has a granny fetish. Such characters are out there. Some sick souls get off on dead bodies. Lord, lord.

You are a good writer. Your work has drive and pace. Style is hard to teach. It usually comes to people who read a lot. If you read enough good stuff, the magic of words gets in your bones, and you write well. If you don’t read anything but pap, you don’t write well. It’s as simple as that. I am reading geology now. Some of these geologists can write like a house afire. I just paid $400 for a first edition of a geological classic. I must be crazy.

Happy New Year; Get Ready to Rock and Roll the School Board and Administration in 2009. lee

Have a happy New Year. This picture is from last year. My husband and I spend New Year's at home because we are afraid to get out on the streets and get murdered.

This coming year is going to be our Blog Blast year. The administration and board have complained so much about how evil blogs are that we know that we are getting to them.

I am sending out a long new year's message about how rotten the board and administration are. I have assembled with help an email list that covers the Florida education community.

The other parts of the Florida education community need to learn how not to run a school system by our exposure of Hillsborough's rotten- from-the-top methods designed to impede the teachers and students and to make things easy for the administration and board.

Hip, hip, hooray. lee

Lee, do you realize that if a public school teacher were to post a picture like yours holding a glass of wine, we'd be run out of town on a rail and called bad role models. The same rules simply don't apply to us.

Maybe you should put the Gates Foundation on your list.

I am thinking small. You are thinking big. I will put Bill and Melissa Gates on our list if I can find an email. I like the way they spend their billions to help the world, mostly education. See if you can find an email and send it to me. lee

Why not add Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, and the Tooth Fairy? Now there's a trifecta you don't want to mess with. I would wager you might even getter a better response from these three.

I am not smart enough to know what you mean, Grey Ghost. leeAnonymous has left a new comment on your post "Happy New Year; Get Ready to Rock and Roll the Sch...":

Maybe he/she means that the "powers that be" are about as nebulous as this "trifecta".

Maybe he/she means that, just as the acts of these fictitious characters are carried out by others, so are the strings of the puppets of education being pulled by someone else.

In any case, I applaud you for your efforts.

Ziggy Has A Granny Fetish

Florence, Italy, in the background

I am assembling an email list to send a message I am writing about the way one sees the school system administration and board leadership from the outside

I think this blog view of both entities is why we hear increasing complaints from the board and administration about how the blogs are troublesome and untrustworthy and cause a lot of grief. Jennifer Falliero, who will never understand the First Amendment, wrote an email to their education editor and said the newspapers are responsible for making all blog entries be signed.

La Jennifer said the newspapers should put a clerk on this job round the clock. She had to go to the Public Affairs office to get it into literate condition. She needs to go to Tampa General for a lobotomy. I didn't realize we were so effective. We must have got to a nerve. That means we should keep up our annoying information. lee

If you have email addresses of people who you think should get this email (next few days just as soon as I finish making it as troublesome to the board and administration as I can, then send them, and I will add them to my master list of all the state school bureaucracies and all the county boards. I have added a number of schools' teachers' emails. I have added anyone who I think would be indignant about how the board in Hillsborough County is run. lee

Ziggy has mounted a blog to nag me. The boy is a loon. I may have to get one of my seven grandsons on him. lee

The way I see it, certain administrators are INFURIATED that the tables have been turned on them. For years they have made the rules - deciding when to enforce them and when not. THEY have controlled the information. They have used the system to their advantage to the detriment of students. Now that the public has a way to communicate with their own power and control, certain people are NOT HAPPY.

I don't always agree with what you say, Lee, but I wholeheartedly defend your right to say it.

Since you're 100 now, maybe we could get you a gig doing Dannon yogurt commercials. LOL!! Remember them?

Now that's the statement of a real American. Without the First Amendment, we are in China or Pakistan or Outer Mongolia. The administration and board are terrified of any information that challenges the spin that comes out of the Public Affairs office. We have their number now. They are terrified of real information. I am working on a magnum opus of revelation. Stay tuned. lee

The time has come for someone to finally stand up for HCPS

Well, Lee, here it is! I finally made a blog! Don't get too excited, though; you may have a heart attack. I call my blog "The Abyss" because it's a place of endless possibilities and discussions. There is no end. You won't see me blocking a reader's comment just because I disagree with them. Here, anything goes.

About Lee Drury De Cesare: In short, she's a 100-something year old woman who is a staunch Democrat (Note: That statement does not imply that my political affiliation is on the contrary. Actually, I have no political affiliation). She taught English at HCC for 58 years and derives pleasure from correcting other people's grammar (Okay, I'm lying. She's only 70-something and taught at HCC for 28 years. But don't worry because, according to Lee, you can lie and then label it as "satire" when somebody calls you out on it). Now she spends the end of her almost-gone life fighting an endless battle against the Hillsborough County School District, particularly against the school board and the administration. I really don't know what interest she has in the district per the fact that she has never worked for it.

To kick off my blog, here are some grudges I have against Ms. De Cesare.

1) She's obsessed with criticizing people's grammar, yet she makes numerous grammatical errors, despite her teaching English at a community college for 28 years (which she boasts about). She claims that when the students came in on the first day, they didn't know a lick about English. I bet that, though, that after she was done with them, they knew less at the end of the semester than when they came in the door the first day.

2) She's a hypocrite. For instance, she only criticizes the grammar of those who oppose her. She claims teachers are the intelligent ones and that the administrators are dumb, yet, considering most of the people who post on her blog are teachers, most of her commenters make grammatical mistakes. She refuses to correct them, however, because they are on her side. When she realizes one of her opponents is right, she doesn't respond directly to their argument, and instead, criticizes their grammar.

3) She criticizes people for not having Ph.D.'s, yet, despite her intellectual arrogance, only has a Master's. That's why she could only teach at a measly community college and not at a real university as an actual professor.

4) She's a staunch supporter of the First Amendment, and always boasts about free speech, yet she refuses to post comments on her blog from people who oppose her after she gets the tired of them. For example, I began commenting on her blog, and she posted my comments on the main page (which I did not ask to be done). After a while, when she realized that she couldn't counterargue my arguments, she told me that she would no longer post my comments on the front page, but that she would continue to allow them in the readers' comments section. I said that was fine and that I never asked to become a star. Depsite her promise, however, she now refuses to allow my comments in the readers' comments section. She criticizes the school district for censoring free speech, yet she does the exact same thing on her blog. Lee is probably one of the biggest hypocrites you will ever meet. She will never beat her opponents with such a flawed game plan.

NOTE: You may find me criticizing Lee's grammar from time to time, and I know that my grammar is not perfect. You might argue that I'm doing the same thing I'm accusing her of, but the difference is that I know my grammar is not perfect, I'll only correct her grammar, and if I did correct people's grammar on a regular basis, I wouldn't pick and choose which one's I would slam and which one's I would give a free pass . Lee refuses to admit her mistakes (or the mistakes of her pets), but brings down the hammer on those who oppose her. I'm simply giving her a taste of her own medicine and making people realize that she is not so English-savvy as everyone might think. Again, the main purpose of this blog is not to criticize her grammar (that's Antigrammargrinch's job), but to call Lee out on her flawed arguments and false criticisms of the school district.
