This readers are wiser than I am to the crookedness of the ROSSAC mafia. But if you read the court documents in the Erwin case, you have to believe somebody was getting paid off for these shoddy schools' acceptance by the board. lee
I have forwarded these comments to all school board members. I think they need to hear what the outside world thinks of them. They stay by choice hermetically sealed in the ROSSAC echo chamber. lee
Lee,
I hope the anonymous comments posted on your blog are not true. I do not like to live in a world with such horrible corruption in it. In the end, everyone has to look in the mirror and like who they see looking back at them. I hope the people to whom I look for guidance (for instance, school board members) are people who like who they see staring back in the mirror. It is a horrible, horrible world we live in otherwise.
I thank God I received my sense of ethics and fairness from my parents. They are hardcore Democrats even though they benefit from the Republican tax cuts. My father tells me it is sad how unfair the tax cuts that he can take are. He says he should shut his mouth and enjoy it, but his sense of ethics do not let him. So he votes for THE PEOPLE rather than money grubbers every election as do I. That is a hero to me.....someone who wants others to have it as good as he has had it and who is willing to give up a piece of the pie so that more people can enjoy the pie. It is also why I have gone into public education. I have had such a wonderful life that I have to give back without any desire to become rich. I will never use education as a stepping stone to a high paying job. My goal is to help students learn how to get information, since information is truly power. But people's values are messed up. I sense that most people can be bought. I hope the board members can not be. People throw their values out the window for money or what have you. I can not do that and live with myself. It is everyone's duty to help others less fortunate, in my opinion, not to help themselves to the cookie jar. And that is why I picked up that bullhorn and read the books taken off display two days after Kipley chastised me. I have to do what's right, not what is safe or comfortable for others. I did that for the gay students who told me their stories of mistreatment. I felt the least I could do for them is to speak up and demand that their literature stays on displays. My father and mother are this way too. My mother ran away from an alcoholic and abusive father at 12 years old in Japan and made her own life on the streets of Tokyo, until she met my father who was in the navy, so even though I have lived a very easy life I can scrap with anyone. As a gay guy I was never harassed because I did not put up with it and was willing to be beat up rather than accept someone putting me down. My self respect was always more important to me than whether I have a bloody nose or not. I get that spirit from my mother and the calm, diplomatic side from my father who thinks things through and uses intelligence.
Every person in this world should have experienced parents such as these. They are my heroes. I could never take what is not mine because that is not how they taught me. I want to be able to look my parents in the eyes and know that they can be proud of me.
I wonder if Kurdell, Lamb, and Olson have received kickbacks from all the companies who have done business with the school district so that they will keep their mouths shut when Elia and the district officials want to hire these companies without bidding the jobs out. There must be some reason why they simply rubberstamp everything.
I wonder if the mainstream media could look into the deposits into these board members' bank accounts to see if funny business was afoot.
Everyone should be very suspicious of these old timers on the board. Most politicians move onto other positions. They have stayed on b/c it is comfy for some reason. It could be some kind of monetary reward.
Bookman, Newsome, King, Hancock, Few, Brickelmeyer, are just some of the district names that jumped out of the contribution list. Isn't shaking down your cronies a bit unethical?
There are long enduring and persistent rumors in the upper echelon of ROSSAC that a currently seated, long time board member was paid off directly from school district funds.
This female board member supposedly was in dire financial straights (Hmmm I wonder which of the three long time female board members might fit this description?). Some of the highest ranking administration officials in the district facilitated the "public financing" to help her out (And thereby ensuring her enduring loyalty and obedience).
Additionally consider the following:
Have you noticed that Jack Lambs daughter Ms. Arias is enjoying a meteoric rise through HCPS?
How about Doretha Edgecombs daughter and her similarly remarkable career advancement.
At HCPS they strive to compromise anyone with any power, be it real or percieved. They use favors, money, and/or sex (ala Faliero and Hart) to reign people in. Compromised people are controllable people.
And don't get me started on what they supposedly have on Elia!
They want desperately to compromise Griffin, we can infer that this hasn't happened yet because they are still fighting her. If she had succumbed, the tension and "dysfunction" that has been and continues to be chronicled on the HCSB would either not exist or they would have already played their hand since Griffin is clearly not playing the game the HCSB way.
